Is Limbo Rigged? One Line of Arithmetic Settles It
Limbo is not rigged, and it is the easiest casino game in existence to check: the win chance the game shows you must equal 99 divided by your target multiplier. If it does, the return is 99% and there is nothing left to hide. If it does not, you are not playing the published build.
The identity
win chance (%) = 99 / target multiplier
Type a target and the game tells you the chance. Divide 99 by your target and compare. The two numbers should agree to the decimal place the interface shows.
| Target | Win chance the game should show | Roughly | Expected return |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.01x | 98.0198% | 49 in 50 | 99% |
| 1.50x | 66.0000% | 2 in 3 | 99% |
| 2.00x | 49.5000% | 1 in 2 | 99% |
| 5.00x | 19.8000% | 1 in 5 | 99% |
| 10.00x | 9.9000% | 1 in 10 | 99% |
| 100x | 0.9900% | 1 in 101 | 99% |
| 1,000x | 0.0990% | 1 in 1,010 | 99% |
Why the last column never moves
Expected return is the payout multiplied by the chance of getting it. Here that is m multiplied by 0.99 divided by m. The m cancels. Whatever target you pick, from the most timid to the most extreme, the answer is 0.99.
This is worth sitting with, because it disposes of every Limbo strategy at once. There is no target with better value than any other. There is no sequence of targets that adds up to more than the sum of its parts. The only thing your target controls is how often you win and how large the win is.
The one thing that can genuinely differ
House edge is not universal. A 99% build gives the identity above; a 97% build would give win chance equals 97 divided by target, and a 96% build 96 divided by target. Divide the shown chance into your target and you recover the operator’s actual return figure. That single division is a more reliable audit than any published RTP claim, because it uses the numbers the game itself is showing you.
Quick answers
Is Limbo rigged? Not in the genuine build. The win chance is forced to 99 divided by the target, which fixes the return at 99%.
What is the best target in Limbo? Every target returns 99%. Low targets win often and small, high targets rarely and large.
How can I check the house edge myself? Multiply the shown win chance by the target. A 99% game returns 99, a 97% game returns 97.

payout = (100 - house edge) / win chanceDice and Limbo payouts follow the published identity: multiplier equals 99 divided by the win chance in percent for a 99% RTP build. Expected value is therefore the same at every win chance, which is what fixes the house edge at 1%.
